In 1961, the FA abolished the wage cap for players, which in turn led to an increase in wages. In 1978, clubs looked at other ways of gaining extra funds in order to pay their players through the means of sponsorship deals.

For the 1978-79 season, Liverpool FC became one of the first teams to secure an FA-authorised sponsorship deal with Japanese technology company Hitachi. The sponsor featured on the front, while The Reds embroidered badge appeared on the left side.

Re-live this historic moment thanks to a recreated shirt produced by Score Draw.

Features Include:

Short sleeves
V-neck Collar
The Reds Embroidered Badge
Single Jersey Cotton Fabric
Printed Hitachi sponsor
